EcoRx - Fish Parasite Control
Regular
observation of your koi and goldfish will allow problems such as
parasites and bacterial or fungal diseases to be detected
early.
Be familiar
with your koi or goldfish's normal shape, size and color as well as
swimming habits.
A change in
these factors may signal a problem. The problem must be identified
in order to know the steps to take for treatment with the proper
medication. Treating for a parasite, bacteria or fungus
requires different medication.
Every pond
owner with fish, at some time or another, will probably have to
medicate their pond.
Though Koi are extremely hardy, it is very important to keep a
watch on their environment to keep them at their healthiest.
Attention
should be paid to the quality of water and balance of the pond
(i.e. pH levels etc.). However, if problems do occur, the first
step is to remove the individual fish or decide whether to treat
the entire pond.
It is
sometimes difficult to be aware of a problem with a koi or goldfish
until its too late.
Be aware of
your Koi's behavior patterns so changes can be detected early. A
change in your Koi's behavior is usually the first sign that that
your Koi are stressed or ill and may need some type of koi medicine
or treatment.

Nematodes are metazoan worms, which parasitize the
skin, muscle, and viscera of fish. Fish are intermediary or final
hosts of this parasite. Nematodes commonly cause cysts in fish
tissue. |

Ichthyobodo (Costia) is a protozoan flagellate,
found on the gills and skin of fish. All freshwater fish species
are susceptible to this parasite. Infected fish will commonly flash
or scrape against objects and in more extreme cases stop eating and
gasp at the water's surface. A characteristic sign of infection
with this parasite is excess mucus production. |

Argulus is a crustacean, of the class
Branchiura. These parasites are found on the skin and
gills of fish. Argulus feed by inserting a pre-oral stylet into the
skin that injects digestive enzymes, which break-down proteins,
allowing the parasite to suck out body fluids. The spines, suckers,
and hooks argulus use for attachment cause further irritation.
Argulus infestation can cause focal, red lesions on the body of the
fish. |

Acanthocephalans are a type of metazoan parasite, also
known as thorny-headed worms. These worms can be found in the
intestine, mesentery, and liver. Thorny headed worms have a complex
life cycle that may involve either an amphipod or crustacean as the
primary host, a fish as a secondary host, and a mammal or bird as a
tertiary host. |

Monogenean Parasites are ubiquitous in the freshwater
environment and are found on the body surface of many fish. These
parasites are small worms, generally 1mm or less in size. 3 groups
of monogene worms that commonly infect fish are:
1.
Gyrodactylus spp.
2. Acyrocephalids - including Ligictaluridus spp. and Cleidodiscus
spp.
3. Dactylogyrids - including Dactylogyrus spp. |

Trichodina is a ciliated, protozoan parasite of
fish gills and skin. Under the microscope, these organisms look
like tiny, rotating, ciliated discs. Trichodina do not feed on fish
tissues, but rather use their host as a means of transport. In high
concentration, however, they can be extremely irritating to the
host organism, as the sucking disc they use for attachment can
cause damage to delicate gill filaments or epithelium of the
fish. |

Isopods (sea lice) are crustaceans that are widely
distributed throughout the world in marine and estuarine
environments, with a few species found in fresh water. These
parasites adhere to fish gills, skin, and fins and may also live in
the mouth and gill cavities. Isopod infestation is confirmed by
gross observation. The presence of this parasite can interfere with
feeding, cause chronic stress, and result in growth retardation and
make the fish susceptible to bacterial and/or parasitic invasions.
Injured tissues are frequently invaded by secondary bacterial
pathogens, and this may lead to disease or even death of the
fish. |

Shipping Policy
- Q.What shipping methods do you
offer?
- A. We use USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex, Common Carrier &
Customer Pick-up.
- Depending upon the items ordered and where it is being
ship from, will
- determine the available shipping methods.
TJB-INC ships from
- warehouse locations in CA, CT, IL, GA, & NC.
- Q. What are the shipping
rates?
- A. Shipping rates are very different based on the
weight and size of the product
- you are ordering. You can find out what the shipping rates
will be for you order
- by typing clicking on the orange tab "Determine Shipping
& Sales Tax" on the
- bottom of the shopping cart after you have placed an item
into the shopping cart.
- The listed Real-Time Rate is based upon your "ship to"
address.

- Q. Are there items that require
special handling?
- A. Yes, some items are either too large or too
heavy to ship via UPS or USPS.
- In these cases, we use independent freight trucking
companies to ship these
- products. These products are noted as
Truck Ship
Only and may require
- increased shipping costs for services such as residential
delivery, lift gate on the
- truck, or phone ahead scheduling. Please select the
services you would like in
- the shipping section of the cart.
- Q. When will my package be
delivered?
- A. This depends on the shipping method you
selected. We strive to ship our
- products within 48 hours, however, many products will ship
on the same day
- if placed before 11:00 EST Mon -Fri. Orders being ship
via Common Carrier
- or Truck Freight will take from several days to up to 2
weeks depending upon
- the items ordered, location of shipper, weather, & time
of year. You can
- always use the tracking information we send you that will
better answer
- this question.
- Q. How do I track a
package?
- A. When your order ships, you will receive an
e-mail with a link to the
- tracking or Delivery Confirmation (USPS) information.
You may also sign in to
- your account and select "details" on the order history
screen. Note: USPS
- Parcel
Post shipments can not be tracked other methods. These
are
- shipped with a green & black "Delivery Confirmation" sticker that
will be
- scanned by your USPS Mail person upon delivery.
- Q. My package still hasn’t arrived.
What should I do?
- A. You should track your package to see the
scheduled delivery date. If there
- is a problem with the shipment, please contact the shipper
and provided them
- with the tracking information we sent you. Items sent
USPS are sent with
- Delivery Confirmation only and can only be tracked after
they have been
- scanned by your local USPS mail person. USPS does not
have the same
- tracking capabilities as UPS does. If you still
have problems, then contact us
- and we’ll try help you resolve the issues.
- Q. What if I want
to cancel my order?
- A. Since most orders are processed as quickly as
possible (most with-in
- 24-hrs), it will most likely be in-transist and we
can not
stop delivery. It will be
- your responsibility to refuse the
shipment when it arrives and it will be returned
- to TJB-INC at no additional shipping cost to you.
Once an order is submitted,
- it cannot be changed or altered. Also, when submitted, all
canceled orders will
- be subject a 20% cancellation fee regardless of how long
ago the order was
- submitted. If an order has been shipped (paid postage
label applied to shipping
- box), you will also be responsible for
the charged postage.
- Q. For items with free
shipping, does that include areas outside the
USA?
A. Items offered with "free shipping" apply only
to shipments made within the
- contiguous USA. Free shipping does NOT apply for orders to
Hawaii, Alaska,
- & Canada. Additional shipping will be added to
orders to these areas if
- necessary.
- Q. For orders shipped to Canada, what
about PST, GST, Duty & other taxes?
- A. No. The customer
receiving the order is responcible for all duties and
taxes
- charged by their country.
Return Policy
Upon receipt
of package you must inspect all items for damage. Also during
inspection, make sure you received all the items you ordered and
that everything is correct. If you fail to follow this, we will not
be able to file a claim. For all incorrectly sent items you must
contact us within 30 days from receipt. All Claims must be
filed within 30 days after receiving the item.
Returns
accepted on unused items within 30 days of receipt (when you receive
the product). You MUST
CALL to receive important return information
& get a RA # before returning a product. (If the return
procedure is not followed, your return will be refused as it
arrives and returned to you). There will be a 20% Restocking fee on
return orders.
If you ordered
the wrong sized product and are purchasing a different size of the
same item, then we will waive the 20% charge but you are
responsible for all shipping charges. Exceptions are:
any custom cut material (IE: Liner, Underlayment, and all
synthetic turf).
If item
originally had free shipping, the actual cost of shipping and the
20% restocking fee will be deducted from the credit to the
customer. Please allow 1-2 weeks for credits to be
processed. Shipping & Freight charges will not be reimbursed. Returns
made without following proper procedures will be charged a $5.00
fee or more for complications. If you return items to
TJB-INC it is your responsibility to provide tracking
and delivery confirmation. TJB-INC is not responsible for lost or
damaged product shipped by the customer to TJB-INC. If
we sent your item in a shipping container or box, please do the
same if you are returning the item. Packages wrapped just in
paper tend to get damaged in transit and will be refused and
returned to you.
The purchaser is responsible for making the correct purchase for
their application. Although our staff is highly trained, many
customers often leave out or forget important information regarding
their application hindering a proper recommendation.

Items that are FREE or included at no charge are NOT
warrantied through TJB-INC. Also if the item fails due to
its non-intended use TJB-INC is not responsible for warranty
for that item. TJB-INC reserves the right to deny any
warranty claims for a no charge, free, or mis-used
item.
