Ecosystems EcoBlast Algae Control
How Does It Work?
EcoBlast is not a bacteria based product. It is a hydrogen-peroxide powder base that activates when it hits a wet surface. It causes the cellular walls of the Algae to breakdown and release from the rocks. You will have to physically remove the loose algae from the water either by use of a skimmer or a net.
- EcoBlast™ is Aquascape’s #1 treatment for breaking down debris!
- Quickly start using EcoBlast™ to spot treat the trouble areas in the pond and follow up with S.A.B.™ Extreme on a monthly basis to help keep it clear!
- Fast Acting!
- EcoBlast™ is not temperature sensitive and can be used during colder temperatures.
- 100% safe for fish (with scales).
- NOTE: If you have scale-less fish, snales and/or frogs, the product can damage their outer skin if direct contact with the dry product is made.Take care not to sprinkle the product on these types of aquatic life during treatment. The product is safe for all ceratures after it comes in contact with water Consumption of fish after an application will cause no ill effects to other fish or humans.
- 8.8 oz jar treats up to 200 sqft.
- Application Rate: ¼ Cup/50 sqft of pond surface area
- Apply directly to algae
- Available in 3 sizes
- 8.8 oz. treats up to 200 sqft of pond algae
- 38.4 oz. treats up to 780 sqft of pond algae
- 7 lbs. treats up to 2,275 sqft of pond algae
NOTE from ShopTJB: This product is best used in streams, waterfalls or shallow areas of the pond (up to 12" deep). For deeper water areas with algae, it would be better to use a S.A.B. (String Algae Buster) like Aquascape Stream & Pond Clean S.A.B. or Aquascape S.A.B. As with all types of aquatic life, do not sprinkle the dry product directly on the creature(s). The product turns into hydrogen peroxide instantly when it come in contact with water and is then safe. Water has one oxygen molecule (H2O) where as Hydrogen peroxide has 2 Oxygen molecules (H2O2). It the same product as "Oxyclean". What the product does is add extra oxygen to the water which is beneficial to aquatic life but toxic to algae when it comes in contact with it. The extra oxygen causes the algae to oxidize and bubble off the surface it is in contact with.

Calculations for Water Volume of Ponds , Streams & Waterfalls
Pond Water Volume
(Length x Width x Average Depth) x 7.48 = Water Volume of Pond in gallons
1 cubic ft. = 7.48 gallons of water
Example: Pond Measures: 11’L x16’W x 2’AD
(11'L x 16'W x 2'AD) x 7.48 = 2,634 Gallons of water
(The addition of rocks and gravel will lessen the actual water volume beacuse of displacement)
Water Volume in a Stream
(Length x Width x Depth) x 7.78 = Water Volume of Stream in Gallons
Example: Stream Measures: 15'L x 3'W x 2"D
First Calculate Depth in feet not inches: 1" = 0.12' so ... 2"D = 0.24'D
(15'L x 3"W x 0.24'D) x 7.48 = 81 Gallons of Water
Water Volume in Waterfalls = Same as Streams
