Interested in learning how to create your own tabletop water feature? Well there are many different types out there, but we’ll go for a simple bowl water feature.
- Select a bowl for your tabletop water feature. A nice wooden bowl would be perfect for your table, or perhaps you’d like to use a glazed ceramic with bright colors. Either way, make sure it’s waterproofed. Ceramic, resin, and metal should be able to hold water without a problem. If you’re selecting a wooden container, be sure to use some water proofing material. We’d advise a bowl that’s at least 12” wide and 3” deep for this project
- Put your 75 gallon per hour pump into the bowl, fill it, and plug the cord into a GFCI outlet. This is the perfect time to adjust the flow control for the pump.
- Pile rocks around and them on top of your pump to decide on your design. Once you have decided on your design and where the water will come out of, unstuck the rocks and cut the length of 6” vinyl tubing to be long enough to spout out of your rocks.
- Build your stone pile up again, making sure to pull the tubing through and bending it at a 90 degree angle to it can spout out of the rocks. Finally, place the last rocks on the tubing to hide it, keeping a spillway open for the water. If your hose won’t stay bend, try threading a copper wire into the tubing. Make sure the rock at the angle isn’t too heavy, thus restricting the flow.
- Plug in your pump again and move the rocks around to achieve the sound you’re looking for. For example, have your water flow down several rocks in a waterfall effect for a nice sound.
- Add some polished stones and fun plants to the top of your tabletop feature. Moss and even seashells can give your tabletop water feature a fun feel.
