Brass isn't prehistoric anymore! We're using one of the world's oldest metals to dress up your water garden. The elegance of brass has long been one of its most endearing qualities. Combine that with glorious designs and you have the perfect complement to the water garden. Whether it's in your Pondless® Waterfall or sitting to the side of your stream, this tarnish-resistant material will stay beautiful for years to come!
Every sculpture is made by hand in the ancient cire perdue, or "lost wax" method. Artistic and labor intensive, this process builds ultimate value into every creation. A mold is first created from an original sculpture. A casting is poured in wax, then the wax impression is removed and refinded. Once encased, inside and out, in a clay mold, the wax impression is kiln-fired. The wax melts out, and is lost. The resulting void is then filled with molten brass. Once hardened, the brass-casting is removed from the mold. It is buffed (as seen in the picture), polished, and patinized to give the piece its finished verdigris or "broze like" appearence.
The handcrafted nature of our elegant creations builds subtle variations in color, finish, size, and shape into each piece. Every brass sculpture is ultimately unique!
