It's not Plastic - it's Composite!
Trex and ChoiceDek® composite products are made of a unique combination of wood and plastic fibers. Both Trex and ChoiceDek® get the plastic and wood fibers from reclaimed or recycled resources. Including sawdust and used pallets from woodworking operations, and recycled plastic grocery bags from all over the country.
A wood polymer blend, Trex is half recycled plastic bags - the kind you get at the supermarket - and hardwood waist - sawdust made from pallets and other wood fiber. It is durable enough to put right on the ground or around hot tubs and pools, because it isn't slippery. It is termite and beetle resistant. Marine borers don't like it either, making it the material of choice for docks and marinas. Hold up in all temperatures.
