TJB-INC INSTALLATION TIP
At trick that we use at TJB-INC, is to place a white napkin on top of the area where you think a light should go. (You may need to use tape or a rock to keep the napkin from blowing away.) Then stand back and see how it looks. It is much easier to move napkins that it is to move light fixtures. Adjust as you feel necessary until you find a lay-out that you like. Then you will know how many lights you will need to order and install to complete your project.
- When installing these lights in wet or saltwater installations, use a "Di-Electric Silicone" (available at local autoparts or marine supply stores) or Vaseline on all electrical connections. IE: Remove the bulb from the socket, apply the Di-Electric Silicone on the base and re-install the light bulb into the socket. This will prevent the minerals and salts from coroding the electrical connections. You can also use this method on all of your wire connection to assist in the prevention of corosion over the years.
- Use the "L" shaped (included) hold down tabs to secure the fixtures to your surface. Turn the fixture over, then push the hold down tabs into the bottom of the light so there is a tab to the left and right of the fixture which will extend under the adjacent deck boards. (see photos above) This will make it so your lamp fixture will not raise above the height of your decking so there will be no tripping hazard, frost heaving, and a great deterant to theft.
If your decking material is thinner than the light fixture, you can use a scrap piece of lumber to put between the clip and the bottom of the decking to fill the extra space. This will allow the light fixture to be snugged up tight to the decking when you use the hold down tabs. You could also apply adhesive to the edges of the cut hole in the decking and glue the fixture down. Any bulb change would be from the top under the lens and would not be affected by the glue.
Installation in Concrete
For installation in a concrete application, here are some simple suggestions to make your installation easier.
- Run the power feed wires through plastic conduit. At TJB-INC we use flexible conduit and come in through the bottom of the fixture's base. This is for several reasons. First, the flexible conduit allows you the freedom to move the fixture when you do the concrete pour so you can set the correct position for the light to sit. Second, you can replace the wires if there ever was a problem with the wiring. Third, make hole in the conduit below where the bottom of the concrete will be to allow for drainage of water. Water will get into the light unit and will use the flexible conduit as a drain. If you make hole in the conduit below the concrete layer, the water will be allowed to percolate back into the earth below.
- Test all lights before you do the concrete pour. It is much easier to find and correct problem without everything being encased with a thick layer of concrete.
- Insert the includes hold-down tabs into the bottom of the light fixture base.
- Wrap the fixture with a clear plastic wrap like Saran Wrap. Then when you float the fixture in the fresh concrete, none will get inside the fixture. When the concrete dries, cut away any exposed plastic wrap. Use a heat gun for any stubborn pieces being careful not to melt the light fixture.

We looked high and low for these lights and when I found them I was very happy. When I placed the order and got them quickly I was shocked. I've had these lights for the last 20 years and they were awesome. Took them out to remodel and misplaced so ordered new. Nice to know I'll have another 20+ years!

Customer Service Terrible/ Lights were great
From Anonymous of Columbus, Michigan on .
It is very hard to get someone on the phone with questions! They do not respond. I paid 97 in shipping to get next day and was never told there was a cut off time. Our Post office cut off time is 5 pm and I submitted the order at 2. When I requested a refund of the money as the post office would not allow me to do this I was told they could not do that. We have an angry customer and still was out the next day shipping charges when it took 2 days. These are however good lights!
Note From SHOPTJB: The buyer's post office may be open until 5pm but that has no bearing on how shipping works for others. Our cut-off time is 11am EST for same day shipping orders. We have to process, pick and pack these orders before the USPS pick up which is between 1-1:30 pm. Then the USPS driver must leave their route and take all Priority Mail Express packages back to the post office by 3pm in order to make the truck to the airport where all Priority Express Mail goes to.
highly recommended

having my deck redone in a contemporary flair. These lights are just perfect with the cable railing!! Bought a box but needed one more. Great product. Haven't wired them yet so we hope the pictures do them justice.
We LOVE these lights!
From Krista of Toleto, Ohio on .
We were looking to illuminate our deck, without drawing bugs with too bright of a light. We tried several versions of rope lighting, but every time sections would go out and we finally gave up. I asked an associate at Home Depot if there was anyting we could install into our deck and he said that everything like that would be a special order. I looked online and found these lights. We decided to give it a try. They were very easy to install, but it look a little while to complete the project. My husband used a jig-saw to cut holes in the deck floor, and these lights just pop right in. The electrical connection was not difficult, just follow the directions. They come with everything you need to complete the project (except the saw, wire cutters, and pliers). We receive constant compliments on these lights and they have really turned out great. They even withstand our son stepping on each one as he runs around the deck

deck lights
From melanie losier of sturgeon falls, Ontario on .
first off. the customer service was awesome. I ordered from the us and shipped to canada stress free and it was extremely quick. as for the product itself is great quality. the lens/housing are plastic "no corrosion" and the transformer seems durable with a 5 year warranty. I just finished installing the lights and they look awesome. i found the housing clips are useless because the you can compression fit them into the deck. The only i could wrong with the kit are the light wiring instructions. they are somewhat vague when attaching the wiring. they give you X2 3way compression connectors for each light. a quick tip- power and neutral are separate connectors. the 3way portions are power in from a light, power out to another light & light in "pigtails". Lastly, they have all the replacement parts and upgrades. I highly recommend this product.
Good Lights
From Dave of Spokene, Washington on .
The good reviews are deserved. However, you cannot keep the transformer inside - it's photo activated only. It is made for outdoor use.... If you are mounting the lights to a composite deck you will need to 'block' the back - the mounts do not work with a normal composite decking thickness. Otherwise, excellent lights!
Very happy with my deck lights
From Debbie W of Lincoln, Nebraska on .
We added on a huge deck in our yard; wanted lights that looked classy but did not overpower with brightness; these have been perfect. Easy to install; love the options with the sunsensor and the timer; and possibly the favorite feature of our deck! Highly recommended.
Great Lights!
From Jamie B of Charlotte, North Carolina on .
I just finished installing your 14-pack Deck/Dock light kit in my new deck. The istallation went with out any problems. I cut the hole like the picture showed and dropped the light right in. I took me a Saturday afternoon to complete the project but it looks great.
