2 Watt LED Lamps

The Dauer Lampen 2 Watt Wedge is a high powered 12 Volt (AC or DC) lamp. It uses (13) highly efficient 5050 SMD Flat Chip LEDs which use only a total of 2 Watts of energy while maintaining a very nice quality of light. Light output is similar to a 7 watt Standard bulb with 28% of the power required by the 7 watt bulb. These lamps are virtually identical in physical size to a standard Wedge bulb which makes them ideal for many different lighting applications including retail lighting, accent lighting, recesses lighting, track lighting, landscape lighting, & architecural lighting. NOTE: TJB-INC did a 9 month test using LED lamps from 8 manufacturers to see which product would hold up the best over time. The LED lamps were put into our Paver, Retaining Wall, Deck & Dock Kerr lighting fixtures in our outdoor displays. They were subjected to the same conditions you would have at your location. We quickly found that you get what you pay for. Within the first 2 months, several of the LED's stop working. At 6 months, several more began to fail. At the end of the 9 months, one brand was head and shoulders above the rest. The LED lamps from Dauer Lampen. Their LED's were as good as the day they were installed. They also come with a full 5 year warranty, not 90 days to 2 years or pro-rated like the other manufacturers. Because the LED's do not produce the heat the standard bulbs do, the lenses on the light fixtures will not need replacement as often due to the discolorization from the heat given off by standard bulbs.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Do not cut wires yet. Most original LED units will be screwed into the housing with (2) small stainless steel machine screws. Remove the exsisting LED unit from the Wall Eye fixture by removing the (2) screws. Install the replacement LED unit by remounting with the (2) screws. If you have an older Wall Eye unit that did not use screws, then use a knife or screwdriver to pry the old LED unit free from the housing. Make note which side the power wires went. To install a new LED unit, turn the LED unit over so the bottom flat side is facing up. Apply a bead of 1 inch bead of silicone (Window & Door or Kitchen & Bath) to the back of the LED unit. (Like putting toothpaste on a toothbrush.) Now grab the LED unit by the sides and press the bottom with the silicone on to the housing making sure the power wires are going the same way as the original ones did. Use a piece of tape to hold the LED unit in place while the silicone dries (approx 5 hrs).

To make the electrical connections, you have several options.

Lift up the coping or cap to expose the original connection from the LED light to the power cable. Remove the original electrical connectors if possible and remove old LED's wires. Then install the wires from the replacement LED unit into the same connections. Test light before replacing coping or cap.
If the coping or cap is cemented or glued down tight, gently pull on the wires that go into the stone to see if you can pull any extra wire out. Then cut the wires about 3" from the stone. Strip off 3/8" of insulation from the end of the wire. Insert this copper end into the end of one of the RED Butt Connectors. Use a crimper wrench to tightly crimp the wire into the butt connector. (See video Below). Take one of the leads from the Replacement LED unit and cut it to fit leaving 6" of extra length. Remove 3/8" of insullation off this wire as well and then stick it into the open end of the butt connector. Crimp tighly like before securing the wire. Gently pull on the wires to make sure they are secured tightly into the connector. If not, you will have to repeat the process untill you get the connections tight. Using a heatgun, hair dryer, or other heat source, melt the ends of the butt connector so they seal the connections from air and water. Repeat this whole process for the remaining 2 wires. Then, using your fingers, push the extra wire back into the hole in the stone where the original wires came out. Try to get the new butt connectors into the hole so they can not be seen
If you own a soldering iron, you can solder the electrical connections instead of using butt connectors. I would recommend using shrink tubing to cover the soldered connection to prevent oxidation of the wires over time.

3 Rust (Brown) Cool Wall Eye II's are mounted under the coping of this 1' high display wall.

The night photos were taken in complete darkness at our Display Gardens in Hamden Ct. The photos were take by a non-professional (me) with an automatic digital camera. The Wall Eye cast a wonderful downward light across the face of our tumbled display wall system. The light was a pure white light, not a yellow like halgon bulbs produce. On the larger 3' high wall, the 3' area in front of the wall was also lit up by the LED's from the Wall Eye lights as well as the face of the wall. I spaced the WallEye lights every 6 feet and was able to have the light overlap on the ground.

I was able to reduce the power draw to 12 watts for the 6 lights that I installed, down from the original 60 watts that was there with the 10 watt traditional low-voltage fixtures.

Operating Instructions for the Original 4” x 8” Solar Brick Landscape Light V1.0

Each box contains one (1) 4” x 8” solar brick landscape light. The light is comprised of a lens, solar module, and a base. The solar light module contains 12 ultrabright LEDs and three solar panels on the top. On the underside of the solar light module is the battery compartment and the light switch. When you receive your Solar Brick Landscape Light, it comes with the light switched in the “ON” position. (You can turn the switch off by removing the lens cover and pressing the Power Switch once until you hear a “click”.

Your Solar Brick Landscape Light can be installed permanently in concrete, imbedded within your brick pavers, lining the driveway, sidewalk, patio, pool deck or placed wherever decorative landscape lighting is desired. Make sure to install them where they have full access to the sun most of the day. Your Solar Brick Landscape Light should illuminate for up to 6+ hours in the spring and summer months and somewhat less in the fall and winter. Your Solar Brick Landscape Light will automatically turn on at night when the sun goes down and shut off when the sun comes up or when the battery as been fully discharged. During the daylight hours, the solar panels convert the sun’s energy into electricity and charges the 1.2 Volt AAA 1,000 mAh NIMH battery. Kindly, remove the lens andsolar light module to access the light switch on the underside of themodule. Click the switch once to turnthe light on. (Complete instructions are contained inside the box.)

It is important that when you reassemble the light to ensure the gasketis smoothed down completely to be flush with the raised lip on the inside ofthe light base. Tighten the screws firmly to make certainthat the solar light is sealed properly. Otherwise, water can seep into the solar light and can damage theelectronic components

How To Replace the Battery on Original V1.0

Remove the lens cover by unscrewing the ten screws with the included allen wrench. Remove the lense and rubber gasket and set them aside. Then grasp the solar light module by the two tabs protruding from the sides and pull up to remove the unit. Turn the solar light module upside down and unscrew the six small screws covering the battery compartment. Then replace the battery with a new AA NI-MH. Reverse the procedure to seal everything back up. Tighten the screws firmly; be sure not to over tighten and strip the screws. You can use the same procedure to replace the solar light module if you desire to change the LED light color or if the module becomes inoperable after many years of use.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

If you have a yard and have ever thought about lighting it at night, then you have probably heard about solar yard lights. As long as a location gets direct sunlight, you can put a light there and have light at night for several hrs.

These lights are extremely interesting because they are almost like mini-satellites. They generate and store their own power during the day and then release it at night. This is just like a satellite that stores solar energy while it is on the sunny side of the planet and then uses that energy when it's on the dark side.

A solar yard light uses standard solar cells in a very straightforward application. A single solar cell produces a maximum of 0.45 volts and a varying amount of current depending on the size of the cell and the amount of light striking the surface. In a typical yard light, therefore, you need 6 cells wired in series. In this yard light, the six cells will produce 2.5 volts and a maximum of about 350 milliamps in full, bright sunlight.

The solar cells are wired directly to the battery through a diode (which prevents the battery's current from flowing back through the solar cell at night). The battery is a high powered AA NI-MH battery. A battery like this produces about 1.2 volts and can store a maximum of approximately 1000 milliamp-hours. During the day, the battery charges, reaching maximum charge except on shorter winter days or days when there is heavy overcast.

At night, the solar cells stop producing power. The photo resistor turns on the LED. The controller board accepts power from the solar cell and battery, as well as input from the photo resistor. It has a three-transistor circuit that turns on the LED when the photo resistor indicates darkness.

LEDs draw about 45 milliamps with the battery producing about 1.23 volts (0.055 watts). It produces about half of the light that a candle would. The 1,000 mAh NI-MH battery, when fully charged, can operate the LED for about 6-8 hrs on this 4" x 8" light. The Premium 2,500 mAh will operate the LEDs up to 12-14 hrs on a full charge.

Half of a candle's light is not very much, and if you have ever purchased one of these yard lights you know that it really is not enough to provide illumination. You use them more for marking a trail or pathway -- they are bright enough to see, but not really bright enough to illuminate the ground to any great degree. They help define borders, pathways, & stairways. Use them in walkways, patios, driveways, pool deck, stairways & along garden paths. Due to the lower output, bugs are not as attracted to them as they are to other outdoor lighting.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

To make the electrical connections, you have several options.

Lift up the coping or cap to expose the original connection from the LED light to the power cable. Remove the original electrical connectors if possible and remove old LED's wires. Then install the wires from the replacement LED unit into the same connections. Test light before replacing coping or cap.
If the coping or cap is cemented or glued down tight, gently pull on the wires that go into the stone to see if you can pull any extra wire out. Then cut the wires about 3" from the stone. Strip off 3/8" of insulation from the end of the wire. Insert this copper end into the end of one of the RED Butt Connectors. Use a crimper wrench to tightly crimp the wire into the butt connector. (See video Below). Take one of the leads from the Replacement LED unit and cut it to fit leaving 6" of extra length. Remove 3/8" of insullation off this wire as well and then stick it into the open end of the butt connector. Crimp tighly like before securing the wire. Gently pull on the wires to make sure they are secured tightly into the connector. If not, you will have to repeat the process untill you get the connections tight. Using a heatgun, hair dryer, or other heat source, melt the ends of the butt connector so they seal the connections from air and water. Repeat this whole process for the remaining 2 wires. Then, using your fingers, push the extra wire back into the hole in the stone where the original wires came out. Try to get the new butt connectors into the hole so they can not be seen
If you own a soldering iron, you can solder the electrical connections instead of using butt connectors. I would recommend using shrink tubing to cover the soldered connection to prevent oxidation of the wires over time.

16/2 Low Voltage Cable

This wire/cable is used in all low-voltage lighting applications.
Wire = Solid Core & Cable = Stranded Core
We use and sell cable. But not to confuse everyone, we will call it wire because to the common consumer, it it is the same thing.
Our cable is multible stranded 32 gauge copper and remains flexible when cold.
For wire/cable, the lower the wire gauge, the more strands of copper = thicker mass of condutive material and less internal frictional line loss. IE: 16/2 is thicker than 18/2. The first number 16, is the wire gauge. The second number/2, is the total number wire/cable runs attached together as a unit. Low-voltage applications require 2 wire/cable runs. Kerr Lighting - Duel Replacement Light Socket

These pre-wired sockets can be used in all newer Kerr Lighting 6" x 9" Fixtures, California, Camolot (formally called Cambridge), & New Age Paver Lights.
Socket has an orientation hole in the bottom of the flat portion of the socket. (see photos)
Accepts a 12-volt, T5 "Flat Wedge" Style Bulb used in all Kerr Lighting and most other outdoor lighing fixtures that use a "Flat Wedge" Bulb.
Each of the Pig-Tail Wires are at least 8" in Length

SHOPTJB TIP: If you need replacement sockets for older Kerr lighting fixtures and they do not have a hole in the middle of the socket, you will still have to use these sockets. The original manufactuer of the non-hole sockets no longer exsists. You can use these new sockets but you will have to modify the mounting. The old style sockets used a wider profile clip system and the newer ones are too small for the clips too work. Do not panic! There is a solution. What we have used that does works, is getting a tube of black silicone (Window & Door or Kitchen & Bath), then squirting a blob on to the fixture base between the socket clips. Then, place the new replacement socket flat down into the silicone. Use some tape to hold in place until the silicone hardens in 6-12 hrs. Repeat for the other socket. Then remove the tape and the new socket will be secured in place ready for use. The silicone is a great adhesive as well as being waterproof.
