5/15/2018 – My pond is only 3ft deep, would this still work? I just dug it out and laid the underlayment and the rubber liner and filled it 3/4 full and realized that the liner was bubbling after heavy rain. I haven’t put my granite boulders in yet. We want to also have fish in there. I’m really not sure what to do, any suggestions?
Response From TJB-INC: Yes it will work but there are other solutions that can solve the problem as well. Contact our office directly and ask for Ted. You can also send him an email at Ted@Pond.Expert
6/20/2013 – 1. Will installing the Aquascape PRV void the manufactures warranty on the liner
2. What is the proper spacing for the PRV's on a large lake. (2 million gallons)
Response From TJB-INC: 1. You will be cutting a hole directly on the bottom of the pond through the liner. What is the warranty on the liner?
2. It will depend upon the amount of gas being released for the rotting organics under the liner. Maybe one for every 500 sq ft?
3. In order to install the PRV, you will need to drain the water down and someone needs to get under the liner to install a 2" Bulkhead fitting & tighten the Jam Nut for each PRV. I recommend placing a piece of 6" seam tape over the area to be cut before making the hole for the bulkhead fitting. This will strengthen the area to help prevent rips in the liner.
Since you need to drain the water and move the liner anyhow, I would recommend a different solution. Install perforated PVC pipe in a grid pattern under the liner. Then vent this system out the side of the pond and above water level to equalize pressures. The pipes will pick up the gases and vent them from under the liner thus eliminating the need for PRVs and cutting holes in the liner. If you need more tech info, call me direct @ 203-287-0636. ... 9/23/2010 – Do you have any product data and intallation instructions on this valve.
I have heard that a minimum pond depth of 5ft is recommended to get enough pressure for this item to work. If so, do you know of a different valve that would work with about 4ft of depth?
Response From TJB-INC: Hi Jeff,
For depths outside of the 5-8 foot range, you would be better to install a bulkhead fitting into the bottom of the pond and then install a PVC pipe to carry the water away from the pond like a chimney stack for water.
If you install the pressure Relief valve in less than 5' of water, there will not be enough pressure from the pond water to close the valve.
