3/17/2011 – We live in New England with freezing winter temperatures. What needs to be done with the aquabasin to survive these conditions?
Response From TJB-INC: If you keep the feature running during the winter, nothing has to be done. If you shut off the pump, you will have to remove the pump from the water so the ice won't crack the housing. As far as the AquaBasin, nothing has to be done. if it is a large or small. Just leave it alone and it will be just fine. If you purchase a mini, then you should drain out the water and cover it for the winter.
5/8/2009 – We recently purchased a concrete vase with a 1" to 1-1/2" hole at the base and will be converting it to a bubbler. It is 30" High X 16" Dia. at the top and tapers to 12" Dia. at the bottom.
1) What size AquaBasin system and pump is needed?
2) Is the small basin designed with two supports in the middle to help support heavier pieces?
3) What lights do you recommend?
Response From TJB-INC: 1. The Small AquaBasin will work for this application. You will need the Ceramic Bubbler Kit (SKU #98202) and either the 1500 or 2000 gph Ultra Pump Kit. I would go with the larger one because if it is too poerfull, you can always use the included ball valve to turn down the flow rate. If you go too small, you are out of luck.
2. Both of the Aquabasins have internal supports that can hold weights up to 1500 lbs.
3. I would use (2) of the 2-Watt Bullet LED lights (Sku #98283) because they produce a nice white light and are they are easy to install and adjust.
