10/24/2011 – I have a 14 lights set up. 6 of the light are out,on one side.I reversed wires. no change. I also tested the bulbs, what should i do to test or repair it? Thank you
Response From TJB-INC: You have a connection issue. You will need a voltage meter that can read 12 volts AC to find the problem(s). These are available at any home center or Radio Shack. Ask the sales person how to use the meter to measure 12 volts AC (12VAC).
To check current at a light socket, set meter to read 12VAC (usually using the 30VAC mode). Remove the light bulb. Then stick one of the test leads into one of the copper receptors in the light socket. Then insert the other lead into the other receptor. If the transformer is turned on, your meter should read around 12 VAC. This means you have power to that socket and a good bulb will light up if installed into that socket.
At your house, you will need to follow the wire from the transformer to where it splits to the side that doesn't work. Check these connections very well. Them move on to the first light that doesn't work. Check the connections here next. Continue the process down the line until you find the bad connection(s). Repair as necessary.
