Algae Twister
This gadget conveniently removes filamentous algae (string and blanket algae) from around koi ponds.
- Simply rotate the circular head in a twisting motion to scrape algae from rocks and liners.
- The aluminum head is 3.5" in diameter and has ridged teeth.
- Plastic handle is 24", adjustable up to 43".
Algae are a natural part of any pond environment. However, poor water quality due to excess organic waste materials can spark unsightly, aggressive algae growth. Maintain proper water conditions and keep algae in check through routine maintenance.
- Use the algae twister to physically remove algae. Keep in mind that it is not practical (or possible) to physically remove all algae. Target nuisance algae growth in highly visible areas where the unsightly algae can compromise the overall aesthetics of your pond.
- Keep filtration systems running in peak operating condition. Remove organic buildup from water circulation pumps, filtration units, and tubing. This buildup can clog or restrict water flow vital for a clean and healthy pond environment.
- Remove organic debris such as leaves and branches from your pond before it has a chance to break down and release algae-fueling nutrients.
- Use chemical filter media such as activated carbon or phosphate removing media to supplement existing filtration. These filter media can help control aggressive algae growth by removing algae nutrients from pond water.
