3/4" Hose Bib - Water Meter

This water meter features an easy-to-read odometer type reading in single gallons (down to the tenth) and an additional rotary dial with a sweep hand reading one tenth of a gallon per revolution with graduations down to 1/100 of a gallon (1.28 oz). There is also a trickle indicator showing if there is any flow at all to detect leaks. Total registration on the water meter is 10 million gallons, but the meter will last much longer than that. This meter is quality constructed of nickel plated waterworks bronze according to ISO 4064 Standards for accuracy, quality and length of life.

Can handle pressures up to 150 PSI (10.342 bar)
Use with fluid temps up to 105º Fahrenheit (40.56 Celsius)
Can be use in temperature down to 33 degrees F ( 0.56 C)
Do not allow unit to freeze with fluid in it. It will damage unit beyond repair!
Not recommended to be used in submerged applications

Knowing the actual gallons in a pond is essential when applying water treatments, fish medications, or simply calculating fish stocking levels. Use when filling a newly installed pond or re-filling after a cleanout. Comes with a 3/4" garden hose swivel fittings to connect directly to a 3/4" sill cock or garden hose. For the most accurate measurements, attach a short section of garden hose on the discharge side of the meter to create some back pressure and place this hose into your pond.

Note: In many towns you can deduct your garden, irrigation or pool water usage to reduce your sewer charge on your bill. This alone will pay for the water meter in less than 30 days in most cases. Please contact your town or water company, our meter is approved by most of them.

How To Read the Water Meter

Reading a water meter is similar to reading an automobile odometer. Most meters have a seven-digit number on the face called the readout (see picture below). This shows the total of gallons used since the meter was installed. When water passes through the meter, all of the numbers revolve except the last one on the right which is fixed at zero. The large sweep hand registers for this last increment - revolving one time for every ten gallons used. If you have a meter that reads in cubic feet, one revolution of sweep hand is equal to 7.78 gallons . Also the last number is not fixed in place.

This meter is a continuous reading device. There is no reset button. To calculate your water use, pick a starting point at which to read your meter; record the reading and date. After filling what is is you want to measure, read your meter again. Subtract the first reading from the second to find out how much water was used, for example:

Second Reading = 1256240
First Reading = 1255190
Water Used = 1050 gallons

Gallons to cubic feet conversion

multiply the gallons reading by 0.1337 to get cubic feet

there are 7.48052 gallons per cubic foot

6/8/2010 – will this adi water meter work on garden hose ,to help find flow rate for a water well.

Response From TJB-INC: Yes, it is made to fit on standard 3/4" hose fittings with the included adapters.

3/6/2009 – do you have this in 2 and 2.5 inch.

Response From TJB-INC: No I do not. You could use an adapter to reduce your pipe to fit. You will have some flow restriction but an increase in the output pressure. Neither of which will effect the meter's operation.
