GreenClean’s Chemistry
GreenClean’s active ingredient is Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate, commonly called percarbonate. Percarbonate is a stabilized peroxygen chemistry that acts as a powerful algaecide without harming the environment.
Mode of Action
GreenClean works through a powerful oxidation reaction. The peroxygen chemistry in GreenClean reacts with natural elements of surface waters, creating hydroxyl free radicals. Hydroxyl free radicals are strong oxidizers that destroy algal cell membranes, chlorophyll and unsaturated fatty acids, providing immediate control of algae.

GreenClean is a unique granular product that offers the professional a new tool in the control of problematic algae within the growing environment. GreenClean is an alternative to algaecides that utilize copper or other harsh chemicals as their active ingredients. Through the power of oxidation, the treated algae die within hours of being treated.
GreenClean may be applied as a dry granular or dissolved in water for spray applications. When used as a dry application on synthetic turf, walkways, soil, weed barriers, and other surfaces, it will leave a residual barrier behind to help inhibit the re-growth of problematic microorganisms.
Make sure to thoughly soak the area to be treated before applying GreenClean. Then broadcast the dry granular GreenClean over the areas to be treated. Lightly water over the top of the area(s) treated to activate the product. Use a stiff broom/brush to work the activated product into the treated surface. Allow area to dry. Then use a use a stiff broom or gas powered broom (available at most home centers or local rental stores) and brush out the dead debris from the turf or putting green surface. Also use GreenClean around your putting green like under benches and weed mats to control or prevent algae and other microorganisms from re-growing. Rates of application will vary depending upon the level of infestation you have. For light infestations, use 2 lbs - 4 lbs per 1,000 sqft. For heavy infestations, up to 5 lbs - 8 lbs (or more) per 1,000 sqft may be necessary.

Lawn Spreader Application
- Use GreenClean with any type of lawn spreader for lawn and landscape applications. Spread
GreenClean over pre-moistened areas with a uniform coverage. Be careful to prevent overlapping which will result in over application of the product.
Spot Treatments
- Use
GreenClean anytime algae, moss, slime molds, or fungi are actively growing. Just sprinkle over pre-moistened areas to be treated. Once treated area turns a rust color, rake out dead debris.
Walkways and Hard Surfaces
- Evenly spread GreenClean evenly over pre-moistened areas to be treated. Once treated area turns a rust color, rake out dead debris.
Note: GreenClean when used dry is activated by moisture. Dry applications must be made over wet surfaces. Thoroughly water surface to be treated.
GreenClean is not intended for newly seeded or newly established lawns.
