Skimmer Units
The first step in building a pond is ensuring that waste products are efficiently removed from the system. The application of a skimmer and bottom drain is essential in this regard.
Skimmers can remove as much as 85% of debris before it settles to the bottom and is the most effective way of reducing maintenance and increasing the quality of your water. They can provide both mechanical and biological filtration all in one unit. It provides efficient removal of floating debris and oxygen robbing protein film. A leaf trap is included and offers easy removal of larger debris. Everything is removable for easy access and maintenance. The door automatically adjusts to the pond water level for more suction. The floating door prevents most fish from entering the basket.
The addition of a skimmer will greatly reduce the maintenance and increase the enjoyment of your pond.
A Skimmer installs on the outside edge of the EPDM Liner in a pond. Its purpose to collect debris off the surface of the pond before it sinks to the bottom. Just like a skimmer in a swimming pool.
You would install your submersible pump in the bottom of the skimmer. When your pump is operating, water is forced into the skimmer opening. This creates a surface current in the pond which breaks surface tension and pulls debris into the skimmer.
Skimmers also provide a means to discharge excess rainwater from the pond before it undermines the liner.
Aquascape Skimmers have room to mount an automatic waterfill assembly on an interior wall.
The Aquascape Classic & Signature Series come shipped with a gray molded faux rock lid to hide the skimmer box into the pond landscape.
Skimmers allow for easy pond construction in any location, even directly beneath trees!
The Skimmer & BIOFALLS are a part of each Aquascape Pond System. These two components work together to provide you with a clean, debris-free pond.
TJB-INC TIP:
LEAVE SLACK IN THE LINER AT ATTACHMENT POINTS. If you don’t, your silicone seals will get pulled loose as the soil and rocks shift and settle. Leave plenty of slack, if you have a 6 to 8 inch fold when you get to the top of your waterfall, just fold it over and cover it. If you leave a 10”-12” fold at the base of your units, you will have extra liner if you ever have to do a swap out.
