Where should I place skunk traps?
Set the trap in the travel lanes or near the den. You can do this by placing small pieces of bait leading up to the trap. You can also define a path by placing logs or wood up to the trap will also help. After setting the trap, cover it with a blanket (one that you won't want to use again). If you forget to cover the trap, and a skunk has been caught, grab a blanket that is long enough to cover your feet. Approach the trap cautiously and calmly, holding the blanket as you walk with you feet covered, and gently place the blanket over the trap. The blanket is used to keep the animal calm and prevent it from spraying so that it can then be removed to a safer place.
