12/14/2012 – I am in the market for a Green Hole Cutter but I do not know the difference/advantage or disadvantage between the differences of hole cutting blades. You mention that straight or scalloped shell are available? You also mention inside or outside sharpening? I don't understand these two choices, please advise, Thank You. I live in Southern California and my surface is a Dominant Plus grass. It a sand based grass.
Response From TJB-INC: Extremely Important Blade Selection:
• “push up” and native soil greens — outside sharpened blade required.
• Sand-based and USGA greens — inside sharpened blade required.
You would want to order an Inside Sharpened Blade.
6/12/2011 – I want to plug bare spots with centipede grass. Should I use the straight or scalloped shell?
Response From TJB-INC: Outside Sharpened is the most important. Straight or Scalloped is a personal preference. I thick Scalloped cuts faster.
10/31/2010 – What are the advantages/disadvantages of the different shells?
Response From TJB-INC: Straight Shell - Sharpened Inside; Scalloped Shell - Sharpened Inside; Scalloped Shell - Sharpened Outside
What type of soil do you have? That will determine which shell is the best.
