TRANSFER TRAPS WITH REAR SLIDING DOORS
Transfer Live Traps are made with the same great design, materials, and specifications as our Single Door Traps, with the addition of a convenient rear sliding door that allows for the easy baiting, and transferring of animals. The rear sliding door feature ultimately keeps the handler out of striking distance because he never has to get close to the trapped animal. It eliminates the need to reset the front trap door to release the animal. It also eliminates the need to reach all the way through the trap to position the bait beyond the trip pan. With a rear sliding door, the handler just unhooks the safety snap on the rear sliding door and pulls up on its handle. This is the easiest way to release a trapped animal, or bait a trap.

These traps feature a sturdy frame that is constructed of heavy 12, 14, or 16 gauge galvanized steel wire mesh (depending upon model) for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. An open fabric construction allows the animals to see through the trap in all directions and enter the trap with confidence. Galvanized steel rods are welded to the wire mesh frame for extra support and reinforcement. A spring loaded, automatic locking V-door, securely and safely traps the animal inside the trap immediately after the animal steps onto the trip pan, located at the back of the trap. Galvanized 1/2 by 1/2 inch wire mesh openings are welded to the bait areas to prevent animals from reaching through the outside of the trap. A super fast spring loaded door eliminates the chance of the animal backing out of the trap before the door springs shut and locks into place. The special locking system and the heavy reinforcement of the trap doors prohibits animals from forcing the door open, even if the animals manages to turn the trap upside down. This makes these traps perform well when trapping animals at any angle. Deluxe Transfer Traps are also equipped with an adjustable trigger release mechanism that allows for heavy or light sets. Most of these traps include a protective piece of galvanized sheet under the safety handle of the trap, to protect the trapper against scratches from the trapped animal.

WHERE DO GEESE LIVE?

A. Geese generally nest on shorelines, islands, man-made structures and muskrat and beaver lodges. If an area provides a water source, cover for a nest and a good place for the bird to have a lookout, it is likely a goose will build its home there. Since geese most always choose to live near water, flooding is often a destructive force for goose nests. Geese are also attracted to lawns with short, mowed grass.

Lakes, marshes, fields, golf courses, ponds and reservoirs are all common areas where a goose infestation may occur, but any place that provides food and shelter for a goose may become its new home. Many golf courses, backyard ponds and even swimming pools offer both food and shelter for flocks of geese.

If geese are nesting near your home or business, they draw other geese by decoy. Geese and other migrant waterfowl are drawn to other geese. They sense that those geese must have food and good goose shelter if they’re all gathering around. A goose’s nest will tend to be very large, sometimes up to four feet across.

WHEN ARE GEESE MOST ACTIVE?

A. Migratory geese spend the winter months in the southern United States. Some Canada geese don’t migrate at all, and those are the geese that live throughout the country year-round. Early April is the time when most geese start to build their nests, just in time for the mother goose to lay four to seven white eggs, while the male goose stands watch close by. Some geese have been known to lay up to 12 eggs at a time. Canada geese are monogamous, meaning they only have one partner. The eggs will stay in the nest for about a month, and the first week of May usually sees the most goose-egg hatchings.

For six weeks every summer, geese molt. The loss of feathers causes them to be unable to fly during that period of time.

WHAT FOODS DO GEESE EAT?

A. All geese are herbivorous grazers that enjoy eating aquatic plants and seeds, clover, cultivated grains and grasses from a lawn or golf course. An adult goose will eat up to four pounds of grass a day.

WHY SHOULD I LEARN HOW TO GET RID OF GEESE AROUND MY GOLF COURSE, POND, SWIMMING POOL OR LAWN?

A. Many people enjoy hearing the sounds of geese honking, seeing it as a sign of a season change. But geese honking all day outside your home or business can be just as loud and intrusive as the barks of an alarmed dog.

An adult goose can drop two pounds of fecal matter on your lawn and pathways daily. While eating, a goose will relieve itself every six to eight minutes. Goose droppings not only look horrible on benches, buildings, cars and lawns, but they also speed deterioration. Goose droppings can damage machinery and contaminate foods. Goose dung can burn your lawn. Sometimes, goose droppings can make a surface slick and dangerous to walk on. A large amount of goose fecal matter may produce a nasty smell and damage plants and crops. Goose fecal matter has been linked to the spread of diseases and bacterial infections.

Two geese can quickly become six. The population growth of geese ranges from 10 to 17 percent annually. And once geese find a suitable place to nest in your back yard or golf course, they are liable to come right back after their winter migration. As humans create landscaped yards with well-manicured lawns dotted with ponds and other water features, geese are finding perfect habitats in which they can thrive.

Goose droppings, nest paraphernalia and feathers can get sucked into your home’s vents and drain pipes and create a fire hazard, leading to thousands of dollars in repairs. Gutters can also be blocked, causing water to seep indoors and cause flooding.

When vents become toilets and garbage cans for geese, any disease, bug or odor that comes along with geese can contaminate the air that you breathe and any foods meant for human consumption. Mechanical units found on the roof can be damaged if goose feathers and nesting get caught in the fans.

Simply due to the natural circle of life, geese die. Their smells, parasites and diseases are left behind to affect you, your family and employees.

GEESE ARE AROUND MY LAWN, GOLF COURSE, SWIMMING POOL OR POND. WHAT OTHER GOOSE DAMAGE IS THERE?

A. Geese have excellent homing capabilities and will return to the same nesting site, even if the nest has been damaged or removed. Leaving a flock of geese on your property can be a real liability because of slip-and-fall hazards and contamination from droppings and nest materials. Expensive regular cleanup costs would need to be factored in to the home or business budget if geese are left to live on lawns or golf courses.

All these goose pest problems will affect the value of your property. It is difficult to sell a home that has a goose infestation and actually, it’s required by law that you fix the goose problem before you sell your home. Property value can decrease between five percent and ten percent due to goose flock problems.

Geese are territorial birds and will not hesitate to protect their nest and eggs from a human or house pet they see as a threat. An aggressive adult goose can easily knock down a child or senior citizen, and geese can fly up to 50 mph. An aggressive goose will hiss at you and rear its head and then perhaps charge. Geese will fly up and hit a human, cat or dog in the face. This is especially likely if the goose has nested in a place near human traffic, including a parking lot or shrubbery near a building.

Geese can cause agricultural damage to your yard, field or golf course through eating and trampling on the vegetation. If high goose numbers exist in shallow waters, their droppings can change the water’s ecology and cause bacterial and algae problems. Geese and their eggs have several predators, including raccoons, skunks, fox and coyotes. If a flock of geese nests on your lawn or golf course, these other animal pests will be attracted to your property, bringing all their dangers and nuisances with them.

I HEARD GEESE CARRY DISEASES. IS THAT TRUE?

A. Geese do carry diseases, including swimmer’s itch, histoplasmosis, toxoplasmosis, and giardia. These goose illnesses are spread by contact with goose poop, nest materials and dead geese.

When geese live in your pond, swimming pool or nearby lake, parasites that live on the geese will infest the water and climb aboard swimmers, giving them swimmer’s itch. The parasite larvae crawl onto the skin and burrow under it, which leads to a very severe, itchy red rash. The itching will last for up to two weeks; each time a person gets swimmer’s itch the symptoms become more severe.

Histoplasmosis is a fungus disease contracted through airborne spores in goose droppings. If geese have been on your lawn for a while, these spores can even infect the soil you garden in. Its symptoms may be anything from a mild influenza to blood abnormalities and fever, or even death. An eye condition has been linked to the goose disease histoplasmosis and can lead to blindness in those who contract it.

Toxoplasmosis is an infection that invades human tissue and can severely damage the central nervous system, especially in babies. Pregnant women are in extreme danger if infected with toxoplasmosis.

Geese carry the bacteria salmonella. People who pick up salmonella bacteria can become seriously ill with diarrhea, vomiting, fever and chills. Salmonella can also affect the blood. Goose salmonella can be spread through goose fecal matter.

If a human touches soil or water that has been tainted with goose droppings, and then touches his or her mouth, that human is at risk for giardia. Giardia symptoms can include cramps, bloating, diarrhea, fatigue and weight loss, and can last for a prolonged amount of time. Children who play near ponds or lakes with geese living nearby are especially at risk for giardia.

DO CONENOSE PARASITES AND OTHER BUGS REALLY LIVE ON GEESE?

A. Little critters can get a ride on a goose’s back. The closer you are to geese, the more chance you have of coming into contact with mites, ticks, fleas, lice, conenose bugs and other nibbling insects.

Bed bugs and swallow bugs are closely related parasites that can bite humans, causing itchy red welts all over the body.

Conenose bugs are bloodsucking parasites that can feed off humans. Bites from conenose bugs sometimes produce allergic reactions, which can be cause for concern in certain individuals. A bite may produce itchy welts or swelling of the tongue, larynx and trachea.

Several cases of mites biting humans indoors have been reported.

Ticks are very mobile and have been known to crawl down into buildings that geese are nesting near, and travel great distances to attach themselves to people.

If a goose brings fleas near your home, most likely the biting bug will hop onto your house pet’s back. Once inside, large flea populations can build up quickly. Fleas live on the outside of their hosts’ bodies and need to feed on blood in order to produce eggs.

Goose lice are not capable of living off a human host, but they do bite humans on occasion.

A goose bug living in a nest can become an infestation in your pantry or carpet in no time. One or two mites may stray from the goose nest and crawl along your kitchen table. But if the goose abandons its nest for any reason, the whole caboodle of goose bugs will enter your home, looking for a new host. This is why it’s especially important to have removed the goose nests and other garbage after all the geese have been trapped.

Geese are a liability for businesses, restaurants, golf courses and swimming pools. Goose diseases or goose bugs may infect your employees, guests or food. There are documented cases of illnesses occurring in these situations, and the plaintiff successfully sues the owner of the business. Also, if you are an employer and your workers’ environment is being contaminated by geese, you will see a drop in productivity due to illness.

SHOULD I TRAP OR KILL GEESE MYSELF

A. It is illegal to kill geese or to disturb their nests or eggs without express permission. Besides, simply killing the geese yourself doesn’t do any good, as more will come back later. Goose prevention measures have to be taken to make sure they don’t nest there again. The goose waste and nest materials need to be cleaned up, too. This task requires proper clothing and respitory gear so that you don’t expose yourself, your family or co-workers to conenose bugs and disease-ridden droppings.

Homeowners may try to take matters into their own hands by shooting and poisoning geese. First of all, this is illegal activity. Illegal use of poison can affect pets and people. Shooting causes even more goose problems, besides the fact that it’s illegal to shoot a gun in most urban and suburban areas. Use of decoys and traps are the best alternative. WHAT BAIT WORKS BEST FOR TRAPPING GEESE & TURKEYS?

A.The most effective bait is the use of corn and by scattering a few handfuls widely then concentrating the remainder on a few stringers running out 4 or 5 feet beyond the entrance.

Ear corn is preferable to shelled corn for use inside the traps, as it retains the birds inside longer. Busily feeding geese or turkeys in the trap often induce the more wary foul outside to enter.

The cardinal rule In baiting is not to overfeed the geese or turkeys outside a trap. If long leads or stringers of grain are available at the entrances, the birds become satiated and take little interest in the food inside the trap.

What damage do bobcats, coyotes, or dogs do?
Bobcats will wipe out small to medium sized domestic animals. This includes calf’s, goats, house cats, small dogs, chickens, rabbits and anything else the Bobcat can catch. Bobcat trapping is the most effective way to remove unwanted Bobcats.

Your cats and dogs are easy prey as well as any livestock a Coyote sets his mind on. Coyote carry the rabies virus as well as other disease. As people build ponds stocked with fish, and other live animals, coyotes find these areas and quickly begin to feed on the bounty. Coyotes love eggs and can cause huge financial losses to both the commercial farmer as well as the weekend gardener. A coyote can become a problem when their feeding leads them to our gardens, livestock or pets. Coyote are more likely to eat garden vegetables and fruit. Because of how they forage, damage is quick and complete.

Feral dogs are a danger to everyone since they have no fear of humans. People who abandon animals are causing a terrible situation, let alone what they are doing to the dog. A pack of wild dogs is an accident waiting to happen and you or a child might be the victim. Feral or stray dogs also kill small animals, cats, chickens and sometimes carry rabies.

What bait should I use for bobcats, coyotes, or dogs?
Bobcats like any spiced meat like slim-jims, hot dogs or dehydrated meat products. Sardines have also proven effective for Bobcat trapping.

Coyotes prefer chicken, eggs, meat products, and smelly sardines seems to draw them as well.

Feral dogs are attracted to almost any beef food product, hotdogs work great.

Where should I place bobcat, coyote, or dog traps?
Place the Bobcat trap in a flat area where the Bobcat has been hunting, or has been seen.

The Coyote is a nocturnal animal that averages about 35 pounds, and comes out at night to hunt and forage. It is best to set the traps during the day around and near the problem areas, or if you know where the Coyote den is. Keep the Coyote trap near wooded areas, so the Coyote does not feel threatened.

Feral dog traps can be placed anywhere that the dog travel.

Pondzilla helps clarify water and degrade muck and sludge in lakes and ponds by activating the muck layer and stimulating bacterial activity. Applicators like it because it cleans up the muck and sludge. They get called out to clean up plant material and have to tell the customer, “I cannot kill dead.” PondZilla accelerates the decomposition of plant debris.

For ponds that receive a lot of leaf matter, this is a good way to break them down. Leaves from soft maple and fast growing trees tend to degrade better than pine needles and leaves that are high in lignin (oak leaves). What is Pondzilla & what does it do?
PondZilla is an activator, penetrant and cleaning agent developed from catalyst technology which helps to polish a lake or pond. Pondzilla works by reacting with dead plant matter in a water body and converting it to simple sugars. These sugars are then uptaken by beneficial bacteria and released to the atmosphere as a harmless gas. PondZilla can also be tank-mixed & applied with algaecides/herbicides at a rate of 1 - 2 gallons per surface acre .

These traps are the ultimate in convenience and reliability.
For optimal trapping conditions, bait the trap with pork fat or vegetable scraps wrapped in hardware cloth, and securely attach the bait to the inside, rear, of the trap with clips. Once the bait is in place, drop the trap into the water or place it on the shore, half in and half out of the water, where the turtles lurk. Turtles will enter the trap in search for food, step onto the trip pan, and activate the spring loaded, locking door.

There are two major fish eating species here: the "COMMON SNAPPING TURTLE" and the "ALLIGATOR SNAPPING TURTLE".

THE EXTERIOR: They have rugged muscular builds, and come up to 20 inches in length and may weigh up to 70 lbs or more. Alligator Snapping Turtles can get over 24" in length & over 200 lbs in the southern states.
HABITAT: shallow ponds, lakes, streams, or water gardens.
DIET: Omnivores = Eating plants and animals. They prey on anything they can swallow, including fish, invertebrates, frogs and other reptiles, sometimes even small birds and mammals (including the finger of the stupid man in the picture).
DISTANCE: Will travel far for new habitat or laying of eggs. Up to several miles
MATING: From April to November, peak in June/July. Females look for sandy soil to lay eggs. She digs a hole and lays from 30 to 80 eggs each year. They hatch within 18 weeks.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Turtle trap
Rope
Bait (fish or meat)

Step 1

Choose a relocation area for the turtle. For snapping turtles, look for a large body of water, at least five miles away. Otherwise, it may find its way back. Make sure the relocation spot has a plentiful natural food supply.

Step 2

Purchase our turtle trap. Attach the trap to a rope at each end of your pond to anchor it. To remove the turtles, simply pull the trap in by the rope.

Step 3

Place bait in your trap. Whole fish or strips of fish work best for snapping turtles, but you also can use any raw meat. Wrap your bait with rope or put it in a sack and attach it to the inside of the trap.

Step 4

Put your trap in a location where you've spotted snapping turtles. They tend to dwell in shallow water near submerged branches. Make sure to have the trap partially exposed so the turtle can get air and not drown.

Step 5

Check your trap daily. As soon as you've caught a snapper, remove it and place it in a strong cardboard or plastic box. Move it to your chosen relocation spot as soon as possible to save the turtle trauma. Be careful of your finger. Snapping Turtles can BITE! (See video below for example)

Consider the "Three R's" to prevent loss due to pond predators

Provide a safe RETREAT for koi. Predators cannot eat your fish if they cannot catch or find them! Use an underwater shelter placed on the bottom of the pond to create a secure haven from predators. Also, make sure your pond has plenty of floating vegetation and structures for your fish to hide under.

REPEL unwanted animals away with ultrasonic devices, sprays and chemical repellents, and decoys. Spray repellents use smell and taste to ward off unwanted visitors like deer, squirrels, and raccoons. For best results, they should be applied frequently, especially after rain. Herons are big threats to pond inhabitants. NOTE: It is always best to have aeration in the pond, especially if fish are present. These bacteria will consume oxygen as they eat away the muck on the bottom. Q: How long do they take?

A: Customers can usually see benefits in a couple of weeks.

Q: How much will the muck go down?

A: It really depends on the muck composition, water temperature and water movement. Typically customers will see 40-80% of the muck gone over the course of a summer.

Q: Does the muck ever increase?

A: Early in treatment as bacterial activity increases muck can get fluffier and less dense, this is temporary. For the best judge of progress measure initially and later in the fall when temperature cools off.

Q: How do they work?

A: VitaStim MD Pellets sink into the muck and come alive. Muck is high in organics (food), nitrogen and phosphorous. With these conditions they will grow. If they are applied near a shoreline that gets good wave action this works dissolved oxygen into the muck and they will work faster.

A fish farmer in Eastern Texas grows his fish stock the natural way, as he prefers to stay away from chemicals and he does not keep extremely high population densities. The biggest concern he has is the amount of muck fish generate and how much room it takes up which is where VitaStim MD Pellets come in for Bob. Leaves and Organic Build Up

This pond in Southern Ohio was filled with leaves and organic build up. The applicator treated it with VitaStim MD Pellets.

A lake management company in the Ft Meyers, Florida area tested the muck-removing abilities of our MD Pellets against another treatment in golf course ponds over two months. In the 60 day period, the muck levels in the pond treated with the competitor’s product increased by 3 inches. A nearby pond was left untreated as a control and lost 5 inches of muck during the study. In the same time, MD Pellets removed a full foot of bottom sludge, or half of the muck in its pond. WITHIN THE SIXTY DAYS of treatment, MD Pellets degraded an entire foot of muck, exactly half the muck in its test lake.This is in contrast to the control lake, which lost 5 inches of muck, and the lake treated with the competitor’s product, whichdespite having the least muck to begin with, ended up gaining 3 inches of muck.These particular lakes illustrate what can be a common problem in Southern Florida: being surrounded by heavily manicuredlawns and near the ocean can result in large deposits of organic matter, and the year-round warm temperatures create a perfectenvironment for high muck production. The Muckity-Muck of Your Pond

Summer is here, you’re sitting on the deck enjoying the birds, fish, frogs and just reveling in amazement at how beautiful your pond is. Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy your pond and it’s also a wonderful time for a variety of plants to grow. These may include alga and nuisance aquatic weeds. Warm water and nutrients can make several species proliferate.

For those of us who built brand new ponds, it’s important we take healthy steps in this infant pond’s development. This would include aeration, stocking the right kinds and sizes of fish, and choosing what aquatic plants you prefer to have growing rather than completely letting Mother Nature decide. For new ponds, it’s about creating the right balance so your ecosystem is in harm. In some parts of the country this may also involve adding lime or fertilizer, depending upon what’s dissolved in your water. If you add bacterial cultures to these ponds, do so sparingly as these fresh bodies of water can have very limited activity of all types and a little dab will do ya.

For those of us with more established ponds, or ponds that have been neglected, it’s about picking your battle each summer. Find one or two things you can do to improve water quality and slow the growth of “bad” plants. Remember this, aquatic plants need three fundamental things to be able to grow. They need sunlight, temperature, and food. If ponds like this have a layer of muck mostly of biodegradable organic matter in the bottom, then we suggest physically dredging the pond or using a bacterial product in the bottom to remove muck. Beneficial microbes working with aeration can break down some of this muck, thus removing food from the rooted plants we don’t like. We focus on managing the muck in older ponds as this is a rich source of nutrients and will often cause turbidity in the pond.

As always, any time you are trying to control alga or aquatic plants, consult with a local lake management applicator. There are so many types of aquatic plants and so many chemistries available to control the different situations, we always suggest finding field biologists who know plants and are careful with the environment. This means they know how to use the least chemistry with the most benefit.

For you do-it-yourselfers, please be cautious. It’s very important to understand the “cause and effect” you will create any time you treat a pond. That holds true for both herbicides and aeration. Identify the “problem” before you offer a solution. Oftentimes, the problem is not the plants, but what is available that caused the plants to grow.

Summer is also a dynamic time because weather can dictate much of the health of your pond. Drought can have an impact as our friends in Texas saw last summer. Heavy rains in other parts of the country wash in leaves, grass, and nutrients. Floods can exchange nutrients, and extended periods of cool, cloudy weather can completely disrupt the chemistry of some ponds. For ponds that experienced a drought the year before and the pond was refilled with fresh rainwater, expect that water to green up quick as that ponds nutrients have concentrated in the soils and will easily dissolve into the water.

The biggest single issue that ponds f, ace in the summer is lower dissolved oxygen concentration. Warmer water has lower oxygen solubility. This is when it pays the most to have an aeration system. If you see fish coming to the surface looking for air then you know you need aeration. But, by then it’s too late.

So, summer is a time of activity inside the water column. Pay close attention to the volume and types, of aquatic plants which grow. If your pond is older and has a buildup of muck, consider what it would take to begin to convert that muck to its basic nutr, , , , , ients and, , to bind them where they can’t create a situation where your pond’s health is at risk.

What Damage to squirrels do?
Squirrels are very cute until they become a pest around structures. If they enter a building, they are capable of doing damage to a multitude of objects because of their chewing behavior. The most common entry point for squirrels is the attic, which they may enter by chewing a hole into a gable or other susceptible area. In other cases, squirrel will chew into soffits areas and make themselves quite comfortable there.

Once in the attic or soffit, they may nest and eventually reproduce with a litter of several young. In an attic, there is potential for damage to stored goods as well as to wiring with the potential for fire due to gnawing of those wires. Droppings from squirrels may also be a nuisance. If squirrels enter a home through a door or garage, they may do damage to furniture and upholstery in an effort to escape. In other cases, squirrels may do damage outdoors by chewing on structures, screens, lawn furniture, plants or digging in the grass.

What bait should I use for squirrels?
Cereal, grains, nuts (especially peanuts) sunflower seeds, anise oil (a drop or two on bread), shelled corn, apples work well for bait. Mixed peanut butter and oatmeal or peanut butter and molasses, popcorn. One trapper swears by almond extract on bread as bait to tempt the nearest squirrel.

Where should I place squirrel traps?
Check the route that is used most often and set the trap in the appropriate place. You may have to trap several squirrels to solve the problems that you are experiencing. Do not leave the squirrel in the trap overnight as they are a nervous animal and may die. Check the trap often and if in agreement with local and state laws, release the animal in a suitable habitat at least 5 miles away.

Will the Away With Geese product work year-round?
The product will provide continuous service year-round. What if I have geese at my pond that have recently had goslings? Will the mother and goslings be deterred?

I even called and spoke to Tom Wells, founder of the company before purchasing. In this case the product is all that it claims to be. We have tried many things to discourage the geese. Some were pretty weird; I will not enumerate them. We installed the lights August 1, 2010 whenwe had approximately 250 geese on and around the lake. By August 15 we had no geese except for one with a broken wing and its mate. The original lights are still functioning. The lights are well designed and are made of durable materials. We have lived in northern NJ with our beautiful property that abuts a large pond being COVERED with goose droppings, year after year. I’ve used a Residential Unit on about a 3-acre lake for almost two years. The resident geese left in less than a month. Sanity Restored for Tractor-Wielding Doc in Boston!

We live on an acre of land that abuts a wetland. About ten years two geese made that wetland (and our lawn) their home. This summer I counted 28 geese on my lawn. You can imagine the filth associated with that number plus the fact that they were destroying the grass’ roots… My first attempt to remediate the situation was to drive my lawn tractor after them until they sought shelter in the wetland. This worked for a while, but two things occurred. First, my neighbors began to worry about my sanity as I drove wildly around the yard. Second, the geese had more patience than I and would merely wait ten minutes after my disappearance and then nonchalantly return to eating my grass.

I checked with my golf club’s greens keeper who suggested Away With Geese. I installed the device. What happened next was interesting. After three days the geese no longer appeared on my lawn. My neighbors and I were stunned by that development. There was peace on my lawn after all for the next two months. I have seen some geese on the lawn from time to time, which indicates that they are still living in the wetland, but they have been conspicuously absent from my lawn. I can only say thank you for Away With Geese and for the time you spent on the phone with me. Your advice was ‘spot-on’ and I appreciate your sharing your expertise with me.

Lawn and Pond Reclaimed in Pennsylvania

My wife and I moved into our home in January of this 2012. We were thrilled to finally have 3 acres of land plus a large pond. By April we had a few geese and within a few weeks we had more than twenty. We were under siege with droppings and honking. We tried all sorts of methods to rid our pond and property of these geese. Nothing worked!! Then, while searching the Internet for methods to chase them away, we saw your product. We considered ordering one light to see if it really worked but felt “if it seems too good to be true it probably is”. Finally in desperation we ordered one of your Away With Geese lights for our pond. We read all the testimonials and decided to try it. The first night I put it out in our pond we came home after dark and found most of the geese standing on one side of the pond staring at the light. . After 4 nights we were geese free!!! This is the third summer with our light and although neighbors have geese problems, we don’t! I still have to occasionally chase them during the day but they don’t nest at my house and that’s the key. We never would have guessed they hate the light as much as they do. It really works!! If anything would happen to our light we would replace it immediately! Thank you for a great product that does all it claims to do.

No Longer Sharing Retirement Home with 75 geese in Epping, New Hampshire

“I can honestly say that I cannot be without my “Away With Geese” unit because it does just exactly that, it removed the population.

Our first Spring season at our waterfront lake home was last year and we were inundated with geese, anywhere from 50 to 75 and what a mess of poop everywhere, over the grass and sandy beach. They nested just a few feet from the house, perhaps from past history. We assumed it was because the property was vacant for a year. We tried everything. They literally took over our half acre and 100 ft of beach.

In a conversation we were told about “Away With Geese” and once looking over the website we ordered our unit without hesitation and sooooo glad we did. We ordered one that went in the water, and actually liked the blinking light as it floated over the water with a tether.

They had their young (we didn’t order soon enough) but within a month they no longer returned. It’s absolutely the only thing that does the job in getting rid of geese without harm.

They are aggressive and do not react to noise or yard statues or balloons of any kind. They do, however, react to the Away With Geese unit.

I would absolutely advise anyone who has geese problems to get one.

All I can say is ….”don’t wait”. We now enjoy the grass and the beach sand all of which is what our retirement home was all about.

Flower Planters and Pool are for Flowers and Swimming Again

I had geese bury 3 eggs in a flower planter next to the house just below a picture window and above a swimming pool. Connecticut Peninsula is No Loger a Geese Haven

“We purchased a very nice property at a beautiful lake in CT. Our property is about one acre: a peninsula that goes into the lake with an area of about 15 yards by 30 yards of grass surrounded by water. Needless to say, a heaven for these creatures!

“The geese are gone! The large flocks (30+ up to 90 geese) stopped coming within a few days after I installed the unit on my 1-acre pond. 1 Light, 3 Weeks, 0 Geese, and a Happier (and Healthier) Dog in Connecticut

To say that I am a satisfied Away With Geese customer is an understatement. We moved to a home on a lake about a year ago. As soon as we moved in we noticed the geese and they certainly loved our backyard! I would try to send my dog out to scare them, but our golden retriever was more afraid of them than they were of him. In fact, the geese didn’t seem too bothered by him at all. Unfortunately, the mess they would leave on our lawn daily, which was disgusting to us, also became a delicacy for our dog.

Thankfully my research uncovered Away With Geese. I was skeptical, but I was willing to try almost anything! The instructions indicated that it might take a few weeks to work. I will say each week the number of geese on our lawn lessened after installing the light. By week three they were gone. This past December, my husband took the light out thinking the geese had all gone down south. Within a day they were back! I put the light back in, and just like that, they were gone again.

When spring came, some new geese tried coming onto the lawn again, but they soon learned we were not a friendly environment and the light caused them to leave. This light has been a godsend. It works so well that I have donated one to our lake association beach. I have suggested the light to neighbors who have been very happy as well. I am a big fan of this product.

Using a 5 Gallon Bucket for Something else in Lakeside Michigan

We live on a lake in Michigan and we were using a five gallon pail to clean up the waste every day. We tried ropes, everything, nothing worked.
I think we’ve had the light for going on 4 or 5 years now. We put it on the dock, they come for maybe a night or two and then that’s it, they hate it.

I was so tired of the mess all these geese were making! We live at a lake & they wanted to live here on our property day and night. Principal Saves School Children from Health Risks of Geese

This is the product I have used with great success! The makers are Away With Geese and their website is www.awaywithgeese.com. At the time I used this, I was the principal of an elementary school with 500 children. We had a large field with the neighboring Shiverick’s Pond as home to our feathered friends. On any given day, there could be 20 or more geese on the field. As a result, we had an ongoing problem with children tracking the goose poop into the building after playing in the field outside. It was everywhere! The hallways were a mess but worse than that, children were sitting on classroom rugs that had been walked across with shoes contaminated by the poop. It dried from the shoes and littered the rooms. It was a health risk. We tried a number of things from air horns to coyote statues but nothing worked. A parent found this solution and offered to purchase it for our school. We had nothing to lose. We installed a land-based unit. Within a couple of weeks, there were less and less geese landing until there were none— except for a random day when a few might forget they were not invited! It was odd to have a day here or there with a sighting but the greater problem was solved.

I would have a recommendation though as you consider a purchase. Follow the guidelines the owners give regarding the number of units needed. We had only one and I think we would have benefited from two. Instead, we moved the unit on occasion if we found that the geese were starting to randomly land. I have moved on to another school but would not hesitate to use this product again if the need arose. And one more thing- the owner is genuinely interested in having the unit work for you! When we had a problem with the flashing mechanism, he stood by the product and immediately sent a replacement at no charge.

“When a large flock of geese suddenly began gathering on Elder High School’s 65-acre athletic complex two years ago, leaving droppings where students practiced and played games, the school’s facilities manager, Dick McCoy, knew he needed to do something fast.

‘The first day I saw 20 geese,’ he said. ‘The next day I saw 30 or 40 geese. After a week there were about 60 geese and they were all over the fields. It was taking hours each day to clean up after them.’
In the fall of 2011, just a few weeks after the initial geese appeared at Elder, the school bought three of Wells’ lights at $350 apiece and placed them around the athletic complex where they can protect up to three acres of space each.

‘After two days of the lights, I never saw them again,’ said McCoy, who now uses the lights during the spring, summer and fall to keep the geese from coming back. He also added a fourth to the school’s tennis courts after the geese showed up there.
