PREMIUM 5.0-OZ SEAMING TAPE/BINDER FABRIC w/Coated Poly Backing

Seaming tape is a heavy 5.0 oz point bonded polypropylene fabric with a polyethylene coating on one side that you use to hold adhesive on to and bond two pieces of carpet together from the bottom. Adhesive is not part of the seam tape and needs to be purchased separately.
The ploy backing/coating keeps the adhesive from bleeding through the backside of the tape and adhering to the "sub-flooring/base material" allowing for easy future removal of the turf.
Excellent for use over concrete, shock pad, drainage mat system, or crushed agregate.
Standard dimensions for full rolls of tape are 12" wide by 330' long.
Sold in full rolls or custom cut-by-the-foot for smaller jobs.

NOTE: The seam tape is NOT pre-glued and does not have a sticky backing. You have to use some sort of adhesive (see related products below) for the proper use of this product. Please place the poly coated side down (away from the turf) for proper adhesion of adhesive into the fabric side of the seam/biner tape.

The nice 12" width provides a large surface area for adhesion between the seam tape/binder fabric and the synthetic turf.

Important Instruction Notice: Apply the adhesive only to the rough side of the seaming material. Do not apply it to the smooth side! That is the side that should be facing down to the installed base material. Apply adhesive to the rough side of the seaming tape to get the proper adhesion. Applying it to the smooth side is improper use of the product and will result in seam failures.

TJB-INC INSTALLATION TIPS:

Condition the area to be installed. Make sure adhesive and surfaces are at 45°F (7°C) or above for 48 hours before, during and 48 hours after installation. Surfaces must be sound, smooth, dry, clean and free of excessive moisture or alkali. Remove dirt, wax, loose paint and all other foreign matter that would interfere with a good bond such as curing agents and sealers. If using seam tape/binder material, make sure it is free of debris before applying the adhesive.

Directions for installation:
1. Layout your binder/seam tape
2. Open the glue and pour or spray thin layer on the binder tape. Apply a continuous bed of about 1/16” thick x 6” width, approximately 3” per side to be bonded
3. Mist once or twice with regular water via airless sprayer
4. After application to the substrate or binder fabric, wait about 15 – 25 minutes for adhesive to absorb surface and atmospheric moisture, and then lay down turf. Longer wait time required under drier conditions.
5. Once small bubbles start to develop on the surface of the adhesive, press the artificial grass firmly, applying enough pressure to ensure full contact between both. (you won’t need anything to weigh it down, weighing it down can cause our glue to push out against the turf).
6. Wait 5 minutes - do not lift the turf as lifting will not allow any adhesive to adhere.
7. After 10-15 additional minutes, press seams ensuring contact between both surfaces (a weighted roller may be used for field applications).
8. You can begin brooming and infilling if required after 2-3 hours when the adhesive will harden to the touch.
9. Adhesive will be completely cured in 24 hours. Since XGS SEAM GLUE is a moisture-curing adhesive, the humidity in the air, substrate and artificial grass backing will ultimately affect the outcome of the bonding. Extreme temperature variations will also affect the curing process.
Storage:
The shelf life of XGS SEAM GLUE adhesive is 3 - 6 months under the following conditions: The adhesive should be stored at 60º-80º F., and protected against any form of moisture in the original unopened container. It is very important to close the container immediately after dispensing. This is extremely important to reduce moisture absorption
It is strongly recommended to familiarize with the product before use on a large scale. The outcome of the finished product will depend on the experience and skill of the person applying it

TJB-INC INSTALLATION TIPS:

Stir any liquid on the surface into the adhesive.
Full spread adhesive using recommended 1/8" trowel
NOTE: Recommended trowel sizes are guidelines only, and are minimum requirements. Rough, porous concrete and heavily textured carpet backings may require deeper notches. A 100% transfer of adhesive into the carpet backing, while maintaining full coverage of the substrate, must be obtained.
Install carpet into wet adhesive. Do not let adhesive skin over.
Within 30 minutes, cut, fit and reposition as recommended by the carpet manufacturer. Lift a newly laid area occasionally to make sure adhesive is transferring to back.
Smooth the bonded area with firm pressure using a 2-foot length of carpet tube. It is essential to use a light roller for polypropylene-backed carpets. Avoid squeezing adhesive up at the seams. Remove any ozzing wet adhesive with a clean, white cloth dampened with soapy water. Do not allow this unwanted adhesive to dry because it is yellow/orange in color and your seams will not look good!

STA-1000 SYNTHETIC TURF ADHESIVE

STA-1000 is a two component thixotropic polyurethane based adhesive specifically designed for Synthetic Turf seaming.
This is the product used on most NFL synthetic fields so it has been tested by the best and the roughest players.
Our product is available in 2 different sizes.
1 gallon units: for seams up to 90' in length.
5 gallons pails: for athletic field installation or up to 250 lin ft of seaming & can be used in most glue-box applications.

Pot time is maximum 30 minutes at 70 degrees (less if air temps are higher)
If air temperatures are above 70 degrees, do not mix the product until you are ready to use. If left too long in the can, the glue will start to harden from the center of the can outwards.
Green colored so seam bleeds blend in easily
Cures in 30 minutes or less (so work quick!)
One gallon of mixed product is enough to cover about 32' of Athletic Field turf of 12" wide seam tape full width application or up to 50 Feet with partial width application for Residential applications.
Our 5-gallon unit is ideal for use on long seams, and widely employed for athletic field installations as well as large scale residential projects. The 5-galllon unit can be used for a standard 160' athletic field seam or up to 250' of residential seams.
Easier and faster to use than all other glues with less mess.
Once mixed together, STA-1000 is single use and can not be re-sealed in container & re-used later. (the chemical reaction between the two parts make the compound very strong)
STA-1000 is an excellent adhesive when time is a factor and you need quick but lasting adhesion.

TJB-INC INSTALLATION TIPS for 1 Gallon Units:

Part A come in a 3/4 filled gallon container. Part B is the hardener and comes in a pint container.
Add Part B to Part A and stir to the consistancy of smooth pudding. This will take about 5 minutes of mixing.
Allow the mixed product to stand for 3-5 minutes unless outside air temperatures are above 70 degrees, then use the mixed product right away. The higher the outside air temperatures, the quicker the pot time.
Theadhesive activates much quicker when left in the bucket. All seams should beready to glue before mixing a bucket. Once the glue is thoroughly mixed, itshould be out of the bucket in 5-10 minutes. Mix it, and spread it on preparedseams. Leaving it in the bucket creates and over effect from the big glob ofglue activating and heating up. The glue cures much quicker when left in thebucket.
As it heats up and starts to thicken, use a glue trowel with 1/8" grooves to spread the mixed adhesive on to the seam tape.
Then lay down your carpet/turf on to the seam tape and apply pressure to make sure that the adhesive has come in contact with the backing of the carpet/turf.
Adhesive will dry in 15 -30 minutes (less on hot days) so work quickly and correctly.
Once the adhesive has cured, the bond will not come apart so correct any mistakes before it cures!

Large Artificial Turf Installation Using the STA-1000 Method

This section contains instructions and pictorals for installing artificial turf with our revolutionary STA-1000 synthetic turf adhesive. Our system utilizes a custom two-component glue for optimal durability and versatility. Instructions are for Gluebox installation for long seams.

Installation Step One

This picture shows the two components that make up our proprietary STA-1000 synthetic turf adhesive. One unit of STA-1000 contains a 5-gallon bucket of part A and a 1-gallon jug of Part B. The two componenets will be combined to create the strongest turf bonding agent on the market.

Installation Step Two

Pour the entire contents of the 1-gallon container of Part B into the 5-gallon bucket of Part A. There is room in the bucket to hold the contents of both Part A and Part B, as well as additional room for mixing without spillage.

Installation Step Three

Thoroughly mix the two components for approximately 3 minutes. Make sure that it is thoroughly mixed! STA-1000 is the strongest synthetic turf adhesive on the market when mixed correctly. This is the most critical part of the gluing process. The ready-to-use adhesive should have an even consistency, like that of pancake batter.

Installation Step Four

This picture shows a typical setup for mixing our proprietary turf adhesive. Use a 1/2" drill with a 5-gallon mixing chuck as shown. A smaller drill will not have the required torque to get the job done.

Installation Step Five

Installation Step Six

This image illustrates how our glue box works. One worker pours the STA-1000 into the glue box, while a second worker holds the box so that it does not slide forward. A third person (not pictured) pulls the adhesive-coated seaming tape along the length of the seam.

Installation Step Seven

This is a another view of our gluing operation. Note the 3" thick bead of artificial turf adhesive running down the center of the tape. Installtion companies typically make the mistake of putting a thin amount of glue across the entire width of the seaming tape. Synthetic turf seams that are on flat surfaces are not under a tensional load and do not need adhesive 5" into the carpet; they need the adhesive on the critical area, which is the seam itself.

Installation Step Eight

This is a picture of our artificial turf seaming technique. It is only necessary to fold back one piece of carpet. Be sure to fold over the side where the fibers of the turf lay into the seam. Consequently, the side that the fibers are pulling away from the seam should be left on the base.

Installation Step Nine

Slide the seaming tape under the side of carpet that is laying down. Set the seam so that the seaming tape and turf adhesive are centered on the seam. Glue bead should be thick enough to mushroom up and over the 1st 1/4" of the topside of your artificial turf. This will not trap fibers but it will create a moisture barrier for your seam.

Installation Step Eleven

Now you are ready to flip the second panel over and place it into the artificial turf adhesive. Depending on temperature and humidity, STA-1000 should start curing in 15-30 minutes. Keep your eye on the seam, and once the adhesive has the consistancy of bubble gum, you will want to roll the seam. STA-1000 will be completely cured in about 45 minutes – unless the installation is being done in cold weather, which will make it take a little longer.
