For each location you need one control unit and a single sensor unit for each trap that you wish to set. You can set any number of sensors/traps you like within a 300-500 foot range (depending upon terrain) of the control unit.
Every control unit will incur a monthly charge of $27 for the broadband connection and monitoring system. This may either be paid on a monthly basis by automated charge to a credit card or by the payment of an annual invoice. The communication can be to cell phone, email or central support site. The control unit comes with a 12 month warranty. A two year extended warranty can be purchased with the control unit for $100.
TrapSmart Sensor includes:
- (1) TrapSensor Units (good for up to 300'-500' from a Control Unit)
- (1) Universal Trap Trigger Strap (in order to set the trap, one end of the trap trigger is attached to the switch on the trap sensor unit and the other end is clipped to the trap door. Once the trap door is closed, it pulls out the switch end from the sensor and activates the alarm. The control unit will send a text message or text to the trapper and contiunuse to send a reminder signal at approximately 2 hour intervals until the sensor is reset.)

NOTE: TrapSmart is dedicated to the development of technology designed to significantly improve the efficiency and profitability of wildlife control in an environmentally friendly and humane manner.
There are several factors that make wildlife control a difficult and unappealing task. These factors include:
Legal requirement to visit every trap at least once every 24 hours, to see if an animal has been trapped or not, which is costly, time consuming and often a complete waste of resource.
The penalties for non-compliance to the above if an animal is trapped and dies can be prohibitive and the negative press from a court case could be disastrous.
- Even at 24 hours the animals can be at extreme discomfort – leading to protests from various organizations
Thomas Watson, Founder and President of TrapSmart, a professional pest control operator decided in 2006 that there must be a way to use technology to solve these issues. Not only were the protests and fines becoming larger, the economy was worsening, gas and labor rates were increasing and there was increasing consumer pressure to reduce costs and improve the standards of animal protection.
In 2006 in collaboration with TrapSmart Co-Founder and CEO James Burgio (an expert in the design and marketing of GPS tracking systems) they created, designed and manufactured the TrapSmart product line.
Their objective was to produce an automated, fail safe methodology to notify the trapper as soon as an animal entered the trap.Extensive R&D has been performed to ensure that the product will work in most environmental conditions. The resulting product has been extensively tested by wildlife control professionals on the East Coast to rave reviews..
We believe the benefits will
- Significantly improve the efficiency and profitability of wildlife control and early test suggest visits could be removed by 2 x 4 times per job
- Enabling multiple traps to be controlled in one location will increase the speed of capture while reducing the unit cost per trap
- Reduce the exposure for failing to visit trapped animals
- Make you a forward thinking “Green Company” in demand in the 21st century
- Increase the opportunity for additional business from new clients who will only want to deal with environmentally friendly, humane companies
