The Ni-MH Rechargeable battery comes individual or in a package of four.
These AA batteries have a 1.2 voltage @2,500mAH.
They are replacement solar batteries and contains Nickel-Metal Hydride
Expected Lifetime: 1000 charge & discharge cycles. (Appox 4 years in Solar Post Caps & Solar Paver Lights)
They are excellent for using in both premium solar garden lights and other high output applications
Install batteries in the morning and allow them to charge throughout the day.
For non-solar applications, the batteries should be charged using a standard Ni-MH AA battery charger. Standard charge time: 16 hours max @150mA.

Ni-MH – Nickel Metal Hydride is a newer battery technology. Many of the old Nicd batteries are now available in NiMH. These batteries have a much higher capacity then Nicd, so your device will have a much longer run time in between charges. NiMH batteries do not have a “Memory effect” so you can charge them even if they have only been used a bit. They are more expensive then Ni-CD, however you can typically get around 1000 life cycles. These batteries are also more environmentally friendly as they have nothing harmful in them. They are best used in high draining devices; Digital Cameras, Children’s toys, Walkmans, Discmans, Cellular phones, flash lights and more. If used in slow draining devices like Solar Lighting, they will allow for longer time of lighting from the device.

Milliamp Hours (mAh) – Applies to how much energy the battery can store (capacity of the battery). The higher the mAh, the longer the battery will last before needing to be charged. One mAh is the equivalent to 1/1000 Amps. IE: 2.5 Ah = 2500 mAh.

INSTALLATION & TROUBLE SHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS: SOLAR POST CAPS

Remove the metal top by pressing inward on the side of the clear lens with holes, grasping the edge of the metal top and lifting it off.
Remove the 2 exsisting batteries.
Make sure the metal contacts are free of rust or corrosion. If you need to clean the, you can use a nail file or sand-paper. Clean till shiny.
Install replacement batteries
Turn the on/off switch to the OFF position to fully charge the batteries. Your solar post cap light will need 24-48 hours of sunlight to fully charge.
Replace the metal top by snapping it back onto the clear lens. (Be sure that the holes in the lens line up with the stubs on the metal top.)
Place your solar post cap light in direct sunlight for 24-48 hours with the switch in the OFF position to fully charge.
Once the batteries are fully charged, you can leave the switch in the ON position. The solar collector will charge the batteries during the daylight hours and power the light during darkness. Your solar post cap light will stay lit for an average of 6 to 8 hours during the night and turn off during the day, allowing the solar collector to re-charge the batteries.

If your solar post cap light becomes dim or does not light, simply turn the switch to the OFF position for 48 hours and allow the solar collector to fully re-charge the batteries.

How To Replace the Battery

Remove the lens cover by unscrewing the ten screws with the included allen wrench. Remove the lense and rubber gasket and set them aside. Then grasp the solar light module by the two tabs protruding from the sides and pull up to remove the unit. Turn the solar light module upside down and unscrew the six small screws covering the battery compartment. Then replace the battery with a new AA NI-MH. Reverse the procedure to seal everything back up. Tighten the screws firmly; be sure not to over tighten and strip the screws. You can use the same procedure to replace the solar light module if you desire to change the LED light color or if the module becomes inoperable after many years of use.

Remove the solar panel by lifting it straight up from the top of the cap.
Remove the plastic tab in the battery compartment to allow for terminal connection.
Ensure that the batteries are securely in place.
Your solar post cap light will need 24-48 hours of sunlight to fully charge.
Your Solar Tiffany-Style Post Cap is now ready to be installed on your post. To attach to the post, apply an exterior-grade construction adhesive to the inside edge of the molding at the bottom of the light and place it firmly onto the post.

The solar collector will charge the batteries during the daylight hours and power the light during darkness. Your solar post cap light will stay lit for an average of 6 to 8 hours during the night and turn off during the day, allowing the solar collector to re-charge the batteries. Installation instructions for bridge assembly

Start off with the 2 long beams (they are marked on the inside) and place them on the flat ground. Then get the planks (each one of them is numbered) and start from one end of the beams and match the number on the planks with the same number location that is on the beam, working your way to the other end. Look at the numbers and the lines that have been drawn to show you the correct location of all the parts. After you have all the planks screwed to the beams, start with the posts, which are numbered for correct locations. Also, bolt the posts on using a 9/16 wrench, looking at the trace lines for correct locations. Get the rails, looking at the correct numbers for correct locations. Screw the rails on the center post first -- you might need two people to do this, or better yet, a C clamp on one end, and then GENTLY pull down to where the trace lines are. Screw in place. That is all it takes to assemble one of our custom built redwood bridges. Remember, we have pre-assembled the bridge to make sure everything fits perfectly before we ship it to you and have you re-assemble it in your location.

OPTIONAL FACTORY SEALING

Because of the inherent nature of our 100% California Redwood to withstand the outdoor elements such as decay and rot, your Redwood Bridge really does not need to be finished. Many folks prefer to allow their Redwood Bridge to "age naturally" outdoors without any finish at all. Over time the color will weather to a handsome silver-gray highlighted by darker streaks, and the grain of the wood will become slightly raised.

Other folks like the rich look & luster of a clear sealer that brings out the richness of the 100% redwood. If you go this route you may find a wood sealer to be useful by blocking the pores of the wood. This inhibits the grain from becoming raised yet allowing the natural fading to a gentle silvery-gray color We offer an optional factory sealing of 2 coats of Thompson's Water Seal which is a waterproofer plus a clear wood protector.

The cost is $14.00 per ft length for our standard bridges and pro-rated for larger custom width bridges. (See photo's below). On the left is how your bridge will look when you receive it unsealed. Will my copper post caps remain a shiny copper color?
Our copper post caps come with a thin, clear marine lacquer designed to protect them before and during installation. Once exposed to the elements, the sun’s ultraviolet rays, moisture, and pollution begin to break down this coating, exposing the metal underneath. In its natural state, copper breaks down in the elements and patinas. In general, copper progresses from a natural salmon color to a series of russet browns and grays, and finally to a blue-green or gray-green patina.

How do I keep my copper post cap from turning green/patina?
To maintain the shiny look, apply a car wax immediately after purchasing the cap, and reapply every 3 to 6 months.

Can I speed up the patina process on my copper post caps?
To encourage a natural patina, remove the lacquer with mineral spirits and grade 0000 steel wool.
